Carolina LifeCare is owned and operated by Omniflight Helicopters Inc. based in Addison, Texas.  We are the ONLY local helicopter transport system for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee.  Our home base is the Myrtle Beach International Airport in South Carolina.  We are an independent system not contracted by any hospital. 

Currently we fly in a Eurocopter AS-350.  It is powered by a 732 SHP Turbomeca Arriel 1D1 engine.  The aircraft is a true workhorse known for its outstanding performance.  We are proud to fly an incredibly modern, reliable, safe and efficient aircraft.  With an average ground speed of 130 MPH, we have a range of about 300 miles.  With that said, this equates to roughly 30 minutes from our base to the nearest trauma centers.

 The standard crew of three includes a pilot, a flight nurse and a flight medic.  The configuration of this aircraft allows us to transport one patient up to 350 lbs. 

At this time we operate only one helicopter and currently have 4 Pilots, 5 Flight Nurses and 6 Flight Paramedics.  The flight crew is supported by the all important Mechanic and progressive Medical Control Physicians.  The pilots are on a 12 hour shift, the Nurses are on a 24 or 12 hour shift and the Medics have a mix of 24, 16 and 8 hour shifts all based on a 40 hour work week. We operate 24/7 and respond to emergent scene flights as well as interfacility critical transports.
